Intro to Sustainable Ocean Project (SOP)
Posted on | October 11, 2009 | No Comments
Mainstream media is starting to pick up on a hugely important but not very well understood issue….the health of our oceans and fish populations. You might read in the newspaper that the world may run out of seafood by 2048, or you might hear that you shouldn’t eat too much tuna because it contains high levels of mercury. These topics are the tip of the iceberg. There are tons of interesting and untold stories that we need to start sharing.
In creating this blog, SOP’s goal is threefold: 1) to learn more about how our choices affect the health of the ocean and its inhabitants; 2) to push ocean and fish issues into our everyday consciousness; and 3) to ignite people to take actions that will positively affect our oceans.
SOP has made two gross assumptions in starting this blog: 1) you know little to nothing about fisheries management and sustainable seafood; and 2) you know little to nothing about blogging and how blogs work. Within the first few posts, SOP provides an introduction to each topic to get everyone working from the same page.
**On average SOP will post 1-2 entries per week**
